FOR THE LOVE OF WINE, GREAT FOOD AND LIFELeduc-Piedimonte is a new Québec vineyard that specializes in cool and cold climate varietals and in the production of white wines and red wines of high quality. Located at heart of the Richelieu Valley, in Mont-St-Hilaire, the vineyard offers growing conditions most favourable for cultivating vines and aging wines with riche and complex flavours in line with today's wine lover's taste. Domain Leduc-Piedimonte focuses on the production of Ice Wine made from Vidal grapes and dry white wines made from Pinot Gris as well as red wine made from “assemblage” of varieties such as Maréchal Foch and Frontenac. Our love for these types of wine as well as the northern climate in which we live have been instrumental in those choices. It is also to express our attachment to this marvellous region of the Richelieu Valley that we have chosen to establish our vineyard on the south slop of Mount St-Hilaire. The many tourist attractions as well as the quality and variety of local culinary products make this destination a favourite amongst all lovers of fine things and adepts of the art of living. Our desire is to make the wines of Domaine Leduc-Piedimonte the most precious jewel of this magnificent region... We hope you will enjoy them too.

Secrets of the Gods... To that end, you need local conditions and climate that are most favourable in contributing to the culture and the making of this divine nectar. For Icewine that means temperatures permitting to obtain the optimum level of sugar and flavour in the grapes, year after year. For example, the optimum temperature for picking these little pearls of ice is between -10 and -13 degrees Celsius, temperature that Québec can boast of having every year. Of course, you also need a growing season allowing the grapes to reach their full ripeness. The Richelieu Valley offers the perfect climate for winegrowing. With growing temperatures close to those of Burgundy and its warm winds from the south and south-west, the Richelieu Valley makes it possible to produce wines of excellent quality.

Canadian Icewine has made its name on the international markets and is today renowned for being the best in the world by the experts as well as by the amateurs. Though, most of the well known producers may be located in Ontario and British-Columbia, it is none the less obvious that Québec's climate is much more favourable for producing Icewine of great quality, each year.

Recently, we have been seeing Québec winegrowers producing on a regular basis Ice Wine that has nothing to envy from the Icewine produced in the other Canadian provinces. The Québec Ice Wine era is only starting and its future is most brilliant. |
